I had a mixed experience at Boutique Hotel Gavea Tropical. On one hand, the views from my room were stunning, and the comfort of the bed was great. However, I faced issues like a problematic Wi-Fi connection and cleanliness concerns that left me wanting more.

Rooms
6.0
My room on the top floor had absolutely amazing views of Lagoa and the surrounding jungle, plus the bed was incredibly comfortable. However, cleanliness was an issue with dirty glasses, which was disappointing.
Service
7.0
The staff was friendly and helpful, especially Ranierre who spoke excellent English and provided great local tips. However, I did experience some service hiccups like the Wi-Fi not working in my room, which affected my stay.
Location
5.0
The hotel is set up on a hill which gave it a peaceful vibe, but it's quite far from the city center and I found getting around to be a hassle due to traffic, so it's not the most convenient spot.
Dining
7.0
Breakfast had a solid selection with homemade muffins and fresh juices, which I really enjoyed. It felt more like a bed and breakfast than a full dining experience, but it was satisfactory overall.
Facilities
7.0
The hotel had nice amenities like a swimming pool, outdoor jacuzzi, and gym, but I didn’t get a chance to use some of them like the sauna during my stay.

5.4/10

My stay at the boutique hotel was a mixed bag. The amazing views and cozy atmosphere made for a nice experience, but there were several issues that detracted from it. While I appreciated the privacy and personal service, the location was less convenient than expected, and I encountered some cleanliness concerns that were disappointing.

Rooms
6.0
The rooms were spacious and had everything I needed, including a fully equipped kitchen, which gave me the freedom to prepare meals. However, I found some cleanliness issues like dirty glasses, which was disappointing.
Service
7.0
The service was overall friendly and very personal, making me feel at home. The staff were always helpful and attentive, which enhanced my experience despite some of the issues I faced.
Location
5.0
While the hotel is situated in a beautiful, green area, it's not in a central location, making it less convenient to get around Rio. It requires navigating several security checks and some time to travel to other spots in the city.
Dining
7.0
Dining options at the hotel were decent, with deliciously prepared meals. I enjoyed the hospitality extended by Louisa and the fun interaction with the local marmosets during breakfast.
Facilities
6.0
The hotel had a good range of facilities, but it could have been better maintained. The jacuzzi was a lovely addition, offering a perfect spot to unwind at the end of the day.

My stay at Boutique Hotel Gavea Tropical was a mixed bag. The views were absolutely amazing, and the staff was super friendly, but I did face some issues with cleanliness and Wi-Fi. The location, while beautiful, was a bit of a trek from central spots in Rio, which was somewhat inconvenient.

Rooms

The room was nice and clean, and I had a comfy bed with a stunning view of Rio's hills and Christ the Redeemer.
Service

The staff was really helpful and attentive, which made my stay more enjoyable, especially with their local recommendations.
Location

While Gavea has some cool bars and a nice vibe, it's not super central, so getting around took some time.
Dining

Breakfast had a solid selection and I loved the home-made muffins. They even organized dinner for me, which was surprisingly good.
Facilities

Although there was a pool and outdoor jacuzzi, I didn’t really use them much, so can’t comment on how they were.

I had an very nice stay at Boutique Hotel Gavea Tropical, with stunning views and really good staff. While it’s not centrally located, the serene atmosphere was refreshing. The room was unique and comfortable, but I did notice the hotel had lots of steps, which could be challenging for some. Overall, I would definitely recommend this haven in Rio.

Rooms

The rooms are unique and clean with comfortable beds. I loved having a balcony that offered stunning views over Rio.
Service

The staff, led by Raniere, were fantastic, going out of their way to ensure my stay was enjoyable. They provided excellent recommendations and were very attentive.
Location

The hotel is in a quiet area, which is nice, but it's a bit of a taxi ride to the popular beaches like Ipanema and Copacabana. Still, the surrounding views are absolutely amazing.
Dining

Breakfast was lovely, especially with made-to-order omelettes and freshly squeezed juice. I enjoyed seeing the little monkeys visiting during breakfast—it really added to the charm!

The hotel had all the essential facilities, including laundry services and tour assistance. The jacuzzi was a highlight for me, as I often had it to myself.

6.8/10

My stay at Boutique Hotel Gavea Tropical was quite nice, thanks to the friendly service and beautiful views. I loved having breakfast ready for me each morning, although some facilities felt underutilized. While the location made me feel secure and part of a local community, it was a bit far from the main tourist spots and did require some patience with the cab rides.

Rooms
8.0
My room was clean and featured a lovely balcony with stunning views, but I did notice some noise from nearby traffic at night.
Service
9.0
The staff were really good, always friendly, and helpful. The breakfast service was a highlight, with freshly cut fruit and juice that made my mornings pleasant.
Location
7.0
While Gavea had a charming, cosmopolitan feel with great restaurants and bars, it is located far from the center. The cab rides can be lengthy, which is something to consider for easy access to the beach.
Dining
8.0
Breakfast was delicious, featuring a variety of homemade treats that were good. I appreciated the effort put into the meals, even if other dining options were somewhat limited.
Facilities
6.0
Some amenities like the spa and pool didn’t seem to be regularly in use, and I missed the option for spontaneous dining.
